Caitlin's 7th Birthday

We have just concluded four days of celebrating Caitlin's birthday, an event that has been anticipated and planned by our youngest daughter for the last eleven months. On Saturday morning the first of the presents were delivered (a gymnastics mat) and then Daddy drove Mommy and girls up to mid-town to see a Broadway showing of Cinderella. On Sunday morning we went out to breakfast with two of Caitlin's favorite former aupairs (Evita and Kelsey) who then helped with her party. Eleven girls from Caitlin's class dressed up as princesses, had their photos taken (and framed), and then played lots of fun games like musical chairs and pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey.

On Tuesday, we started by going to a local pastry shop for breakfast on the way to school. Then Mommy and Daddy went to Caitlin's school with homemade cupcakes to celebrate with her class. Finally, we went out to dinner to celebrate Caitlin's actual birthday, which she shares with our aupaire Ally Wyatt. Caitlin chose her favorite restaurant (Odeon) which she had visited with her school class mates.  Mommy had called ahead and arranged for the chef to make a surprise visit to the table which was followed by lots of free desserts.  When she returned home Daddy had wrapped even more presents, including a handmade pillow Madeline had made for her sister at sewing class and the long sought "spy glasses" which Caitlin had been asking about for at least six months. There were smiles all around!
